Pro Kabaddi Season 11 start date: All you need to know

After a successful Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) edition in Season 10, fans are already eagerly waiting for Pro Kabaddi Season 11.

The 10th edition of the PKL was held in a 12-city caravan format for its milestone season.

Bengal Warriors, Bengaluru Bulls, Dabang Delhi K.C, Gujarat Giants, Haryana Steelers, Jaipur Pink Panthers, Patna Pirates, Puneri Paltan, Tamil Thalaivas, Telugu Titans, U Mumba and U.P. Yoddhas were the 12 teams that competed in a total of 137 matches in PKL Season 10.

Puneri Paltan emerged as new PKL champions after they defeated Haryana Steelers 28-25 in an enthralling PKL 2023-24 final at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.

After clinching their maiden PKL title, Puneri Paltan became the seventh team to win the tournament at least once after Jaipur Pink Panthers, U Mumba, Patna Pirates, Bengaluru Bulls, Bengal Warriors and Dabang Delhi K.C.

Following the completion of another season, kabaddi enthusiasts want to know about the Pro Kabaddi Season 11 start date.

Pro Kabaddi Season 11 start date

Pro Kabaddi Season 11 is likely to start on July 1, 2024 as reported by Khel Now.

The sports website has stated that PKL organisers are eager to go back to its original window of July-September to organise PKL Season 11.

For the unversed, initial seasons of PKL were staged between July and September.

The report has further claimed that the July-September window could also be ideal for PKL broadcaster Star Sports.

PKL's parent company Mashal Sports and Star Sports have played a key role in promoting kabaddi since the inception of the league in 2014.

Pro Kabaddi is currently the second-most followed league in the country after the Indian T20 League.

Star Sports is also the official broadcaster of the ongoing edition of the Indian T20 League. They also have the rights to broadcast the T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the West Indies and the United States from June 2-29.

After the T20 World Cup, the July-September window could be perfect time for Star Sports to broadcast PKL Season 11 after three months of T20 cricket.

This will also ensure no overlap of the T20 World Cup and the PKL as the latter is also a significant contributor to Star Sports' viewership.

Meanwhile, the last edition of PKL was held from December to March due to unavoidable circumstances.

PKL 10 was postponed due to scheduling conflicts with the Asian Games and Asian Kabaddi Championships.

With no such issues this year, PKL 11 could be held in its original window of July-September.

However, official confirmation from the league is still pending and although PKL could return to its original window of July to September, it’s definitely not a given and could be staged later in the year as well.

The Senior Nationals is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the domestic kabaddi calendar which gives talented youngsters an opportunity to pit themselves against established stars. It also helps them to make their way to the Indian national team, a dominant force in the world of kabaddi with eight gold medals in the Asian Games since 1990. Fans are witnessing the high-quality competition among the teams vying for the prestigious National Champions status.

Organised by the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, the ongoing edition of the Senior National Men’s Kabaddi championship is being broadcast on an OTT platform FanCode for the first time. The broadcast ensures that high-quality Kabaddi coverage reaches the audience and gives further exposure to one of the most watched sports in the world.

As per the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) the opening day of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 (2022) registered an astounding reach of 46 million and a consumption of 1.41 billion minutes, significantly higher in comparison to the opening day of the global marquee sporting event - FIFA World Cup 2022, Qatar which recorded a reach of 9.7 million.

The broadcasting partner of the tournament is Elev8 India Sportz Pvt Ltd., which owns and executes the Yuva Kabaddi Series and over 80 young stars including Ashu Malik (Haryana), Gagan Gowda (Karnataka) and M Sudhakar (Indian Railways) from the tournament are participating in the ongoing competition. Meanwhile, BanyanBoard are providing high-quality graphics and data points to make this a unique viewing experience for kabaddi fans.

Prominent players who are in action in the four-day extravaganza at the District Sports Complex here, include Pawan Sehrawat, who led Indian Railways to their fourth-consecutive title last year but will represent Chandigarh this year, Vishal Bharadwaj and Narendra (Chandigarh), Aslam Inamdar (Maharashtra), Sunil Kumar, Surender Gill (Indian Railways), Arjun Deshwal (Services) and Rahul Chaudhari (Uttar Pradesh) among others.

“The Senior Nationals is always the finale of the kabaddi season with everyone, from the big stars to the youngster making his debut geared up to give his best for the state and make a mark. Kabaddi has huge popularity in the country and with such tournaments we will continue to reach new heights,” said Mr. Shashikant Gade, Secretary Ahmednagar District Amateur Kabaddi Federation and Vice President of Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association.

A total of 30 teams will be vying for the prestigious crown in a round-robin cum knock-out format.
