"FC Internazionale Milano would like to welcome Simone Inzaghi to the club, as our new first-team coach: the Italian manager has signed a two-year deal with the Nerazzurri," read an official statement from the club.

It was on May 27 that Antonio Conte left Inter by mutual consent after a disagreement with the board. It is said that the former Chelsea coach was asked to cut his wage bill to 15-20 per cent and sell players worth up to £70m in the upcoming transfer window. While Conte has left, the problem still persists, with Inzaghi being at the centre of it.

Striker Romelu Lukaku has attracted interest from across Europe while Lautaro Martinez is yet to sign a new contract. Wing-back Achraf Hakimi is gathering from Paris Saint-Germain too.

June 2: 2:40 PM: Barcelona sign Emerson Royal

Only a day after completing the deal for Eric Garcia, Barcelona completed their third signing for the 2021/22 season by exercising their option to buy for Emerson Royal from Real Betis. The 22-year-old right-back has signed a contract until 2024 with the Spanish club. The Brazil international arrived in La Liga in January 2019 in a joint financial operation between Barcelona and Real Betis. Each club paid half of his transfer fee.

Barcelona exercised their option to buy the player for ? million. The 22-year-old right-back made 79 appearances in all competitions for Betis, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists.

June 1: 12:30 PM: Eric Garcia rejoins FC Barcelona

La Liga giants FC Barcelona have confirmed that they have signed back defender Eric Garcia from Manchester City. The 20-year-old player will sign a contract until the end of the 2025/26 season and his buy out clause is set at 400 million euros.

The defender joined the Barça Academy in 2008 and continued his development at La Masia until 2017 when he left for Manchester City where he spent four seasons featuring at U-19, U-23 level and for the first team.

May 31: 7:30 PM: Sergio Aguero signs for Barcelona

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has finalised his move to FC Barcelona, joining the Catalan club on a free transfer. The Argentina striker has signed a deal that will keep him with Barcelona until the end of the 2022/23 season. Barcelona have explicitly mentioned that his 'buy out clause is set at 100 million euros'.

Aguero leaves City as a club legend and their all-time top scorer. Since making his Premier League debut in the 2011-12 season, the forward made 390 appearances for the Cityzens, scoring 260. During his 10-year stint with the Manchester club, Aguero won five Premier League titles, six League Cups and one FA Cup. He came close to winning the UEFA Champions League this season, but fell short as City lost to Chelsea 1-0 in the final.

May 28: 09:30 PM: David Alaba joins Real Madrid from Bayern Munich

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of defender David Alaba on a five-year contract after leaving Bayern Munich. Alaba will be presented as a Real player after Euro 2020, the statement added.

The 28-year-old is leaving Bayern after 431 games in 13 years at the club, where he won 10 German titles and the Champions League twice.

Gameweek 2 of the Premier League turned out to be a rather tricky one for fantasy managers. Both the most captained player Mohamed Salah and the most picked midfielder Bruno Fernandes failed to deliver, drawing blanks.

The upcoming Gameweek is a tricky one to call as well with Liverpool hosting Chelsea at Anfield while Arsenal travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City. On the other hand, Manchester United make an away trip to the Molineux Stadium to play Wolves.

A win or even a draw for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will see Manchester United create history as they would stretch their unbeaten away run in English top-flight football to 28 games.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 3 tips to make your team

Best attacker: Danny Ings

Aston Villa’s summer signing Danny Ings has hit the ground running at his new club. The former Southampton man has scored in both the opening two games of the season and a home match against Brentford is a perfect opportunity to add to his tally. While Brentford’s defensive record has been good this season, it’s worth noting that they have allowed their opponents a whopping 18 shots from inside the penalty box, which is an area of the pitch that Ings has made a career of excelling in.

Best defender: Aymeric Laporte

One might consider the likes of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold or Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso for their fantasy team, but it’s worth mentioning that their chances of keeping a clean sheet aren’t very high since the two clinical teams clash over the weekend. However, Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte could be a handy option. Considering Arsenal have conceded four goals in two league matches and are yet to score a goal themselves, a clean sheet for City seems highly probable. Furthermore, Laporte will be a threat for Manchester City in attacking set-plays - an area of Arsenal’s game that needs improvement.

Best player: Michail Antonio

West Ham United forward Michail Antonio is the second most picked player in Fantasy Premier League after Said Benrahma. The 31-year-old has made a fantastic start to the new Premier League season, scoring three goals and assisting thrice, resulting in a total of 29 fantasy points from two games. With West Ham playing a struggling Crystal Palace side at home, expect Antonio to deliver yet another masterclass.

Fantasy Premier League stats for Gameweek 3 fixtures

Manchester City vs Arsenal

Manchester City are unbeaten against Arsenal in the Premier League since 2015, winning nine of their 11 meetings.

The Cityzens have scored at least three goals in three of their last five appearances.

Liverpool vs Chelsea

Chelsea have won just two of their last 13 Premier League games against Liverpool (L6, D5). As for the Reds, they have scored at least two goals in four of their last five games against Chelsea.

New Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku starred on his debut against Arsenal but he has scored just one goal in his last 11 outings against Liverpool.

Wolves vs Manchester United

Wolves against Manchester United has rarely been a high-scoring match. The teams, in fact, have registered marginal wins in recent times, with United winning 2-1 in the most recent meeting in May 2021.

Wolves?last win over Manchester United in the league dates back to April 2019.

The third week of the Premier League was another action-packed, high octane rollercoaster ride for teams, managers and fans alike. Jamie Vardy was one of the biggest scorers last week courtesy his hat-trick against Manchester City as Leicester City beat Pep Guardiola’s men 5-2.

The upcoming week of action promises to be another exciting one and here are a few players who could help your fantasy team shine.

Player: Timothy Castagne

Team: Leicester City

Match: Leicester City vs West Ham United

Belgian full-back Timothy Castagne has hit the ground running in the Premier League after joining Leicester from Atalanta in the summer. The versatile full-back is currently one of Leicester’s most threatening attacking outlets and has been heavily involved in their goals this season.

After scoring on his debut for the Foxes, Castagne provided two assists in the team’s next league match against Burnley and another against Manchester City last week. His attacking contributions aside, Castagne is a part of a stable backline that will get you plenty of clean sheets.

Player: James Rodriguez

Team: Everton

Match: Everton vs Brighton & Hove Albion

James Rodriguez has quickly become Everton’s talisman after joining the club in the summer. Elegant and graceful with the ball at his feet, Rodriguez never seems to be in a rush and always looks like he has more time than the opposition while in possession.

A creator of chances, most of the Toffees?attacks have been going through the Colombian since his arrival. He’s already scored his first goal and provided his first assist for the club. One of the main reasons why Everton have won their opening three league games this season, Rodriguez’s form will be crucial if Everton are harbouring European ambitions for next season.

Player: Mason Mount

Team: Chelsea

Match: Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

For all of Chelsea’s summer signings, it was their academy stars that bailed them out from suffering an embarrassing defeat against West Bromwich Albion last week. Trailing 3-0 at half-time, it was Mason Mount’s goal that turned the tide of the contest and helped the Blues salvage a point.

He also provided an assist against West Brom and is well trusted by manager Frank Lampard. With him likely to enjoy a lot of game time in the coming months, Mount can be expected to get his fair share of goals and assists since it’s not easy to keep him out of the action on the pitch.

Player: Danny Ings

Team: Southampton

Match: Southampton vs West Bromwich Albion

After finishing last season with 22 league goals ?on par with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and one behind Jamie Vardy ?Danny Ings hasn’t wasted much time in finding the back of the net for Southampton in the ongoing campaign.

Ings has netted thrice in his last two league games and seems to have picked up where he left off last season. Aided by Southampton’s expansive brand of football, there’s no reason why the 28-year-old can’t enjoy another prolific campaign in England’s top-flight.

Player: Harry Kane

Team: Tottenham Hotspur

Match: Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane may not be scoring goals by the dozen at the start of the 2020-21 Premier League season but surely, it’s just a matter of time before that happens. He’s scored just once in the league so far but looks poised to improve on that aspect of his game with more match sharpness.

That aside, goals aren’t the only way he’s been contributing to the team. Kane, in fact, is the leading assist-provider in the league at the moment, having set up five goals this season. He’s been involved in all of Spurs?league goals so far and that’s unlikely to change as the season progresses.

Brazil great Romario once said, ?/span>Strikers are egotists, selfish. We have to be.?This particular utterance may sound bumptious to many, yet the fact remains that these men are solely judged on the statistics they deliver.

European football, this season, was profoundly impacted by the momentous consequences of the global pandemic but it managed to deliver what was promised. For once, the world witnessed someone other than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo topping the goal-scoring chart, with Lazio’s Ciro Immobile pipping the duo by bagging 36 league goals.

In that context, a certain Robert Lewandowski was at his lethal best for the record Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. We have had as many as 11 players who crossed the 20-goal mark across the English Premier League, the Italian Serie A, the Spanish La Liga and the German Bundesliga. So, to put things in perspective, and figure out who has been at the deadliest from the lot, we compare all these men across several facets like conversion rate and average shots per game to name a few to obtain a crystallised picture in front of us.

Note: Only the players to score 20 or more league goals are taken into account.

Only league appearances are considered, not the European figures.

Players from the French Ligue 1 have been excluded, given that the league ended prematurely.

Conversion rate

This particular attribute distinguishes how deadly a striker can be with his attempts. It is often said that the best strikers are those who can capitalise on the situations when expectations are least.

Speaking in that context, a certain Jamie Vardy of Leicester City tops the chart with a conversion rate of 30.26. Having notched 23 goals and five assists in the 2019/20 Premier League season, the England forward attempted a total of 70 shots, with 43 of them being on target.

Up next comes a surprising entrant; Sassuolo’s Francesco Caputo who scored 21 and assisted a further seven. The 33-year-old had a mere 58 attempts, least amongst those who have scored at least 12 goals in the Serie A season but was on target on 35 occasions, completing his tenure with a conversion rate of 30.

Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski made heads spin with a return of 34 goals and four assists. In a total of 2762 minutes played in the league, the Polish striker attempted a total of 114 shots (64 on target), maintaining a healthy rate of 25.76.

Lazio’s Ciro Immobile stole the limelight with an exhilarating tally of 36 goals and nine assists. Having had 71 shots on target from an attempted 119, the Italian marksman finished with a rate of 25.71.

Inter’s Romelu Lukaku had a fantastic season under Antonio Conte, who also tried signing the big Belgian during his time at Chelsea. And now that the pair are working together, the former Manchester United striker finished with a figure of 23 goals and two assists, converting his 75 attempts at a rate of 24.47.

You might be wondering where the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are in the list. Well, rightly so, but brace yourself for an utter disappointment as the duo finishes on the bottom of the table.

Messi, who had a contribution in 46 league goals (25 goals and 21 assists), found the target on 71 occasions from 115 attempts, while Ronaldo, who bagged 31 goals and five assists, attempted a whopping 142 shots, with 80 being on target. The duo, however, returns a conversion rate of 14.67 (Messi) and 15.58 (Ronaldo).

Minutes per goal

Robert Lewandowski and Ciro Immobile once again enter the top half of the tally, having had minutes-per-goal ratios of 81 and 88 respectively in their leagues. The duo put together, has scored a whopping 70 goals and 13 assists between them, which is, with all due respect, more than what Watford and Norwich combined to score (62) in the 2019/20 Premier League season. Deleterious with the ball at their feet, the pair averaged 4.5 and 3.8 shots respectively per game.

While both Messi and Ronaldo have been at the bottom in terms of conversion, their average of shots per game shows why they are considered as two of the best footballers of the current generation. The Portuguese, who found the back of the net every 94 minutes, took 6.3 shots per game in Serie A, most by any player in the list. The Barcelona frontman, on the other hand, comes second with 4.8 with a figure of 115 minutes per goal.

As shown in the list, Karim Benzema, who carried Real Madrid on several occasions en route to winning the La Liga title, took 150 minutes to score a goal. A figure that lowly, however, is compensated by 3.4 shots per game.

And perhaps to no one's surprise, Chelsea’s newest acquisition Timo Werner sits fourth with a figure of 100 minutes per goal. His average of 3.6 shots per game, though, is one of the best in the tally.

Jamie Vardy and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang acquire the bottom spots, which well and truly resonates how fiery the English Premier League can be.

Shots from different areas

Strikers are judged on how efficient they are when not on the ball. Their clever movement of getting into the scoring position is exactly what makes them noxious, and this particular area we are about to scout explore shows how effective these 11 players have been from different parts of the field, like scoring from outside the box, around the penalty area and from the six-yard box.

Starting off with the European golden boot winner, Ciro Immobile, the Lazio striker has bagged a solitary goal from outside the box from 27 attempts. From around the penalty area though, he has attempted a whopping 112 shots (second-best in the list), converting 34 of them, followed by one from the six-yard box.

There are only two players - Karim Benzema and Francesco Caputo - who failed to score a goal from outside of the box. Benzema’s goal against Real Valladolid in August 2019 though came right from the edge of the box, and thus it is quite debatable.

However, the highest amount of goals from outside, as a majority of us can expect, has come from Lionel Messi, who notched nine from a whopping 84 attempts.

Robert Lewandowski, being a poacher, has found the net on 29 occasions from the penalty area in 104 attempts. Meanwhile, the best conversion rate from the six-yard box comes from Caputo, who has put the ball into the net in all of his five attempts.

Versatility

All of these 11 players have shown extreme athleticism, and that is duly illustrated by the fact that how potent they have been even with their weaker foot or even their strong presence in the air. In this distinction, we will look at how many shots each player has taken from their right foot, left foot and with their head, before they found the net.

Considering the ability to score with the weaker foot, Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy has scored nine, while Southampton’s Danny Ings and Sassuolo’s Francesco Caputo have scored eight. The likes of Lionel Messi and Romelu Lukaku are the only left-footed attackers in the list, and the duo has scored two and four goals respectively from their weaker right foot.

As far as headers are concerned, Robert Lewandowski has notched eight goals by rising high, while Timo Werner and Messi are the only forwards who failed to score a headed goal in the 2019/20 league season.

Matchweek 36 sees the fight for the European spots tense up as the in-form Arsenal, who are unbeaten in three Premier League matches, take on champions Liverpool in a crunch tie for a European spot. On other important ties, two more European aspirants Leicester City and Sheffield United battle it out for a place in the top six, with both clubs looking to take advantage of Chelsea’s loss to Sheffield last time round.

While the race for the Golden Boot gets as heated as the fight for European competition, with the primary contenders being Jamie Vardy, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Danny Ings, let’s have a look at five players to have in your Nostragamus fantasy teams:

Player: Raheem Sterling

Team: Manchester City

Match: Manchester City vs Bournemouth

Raheem Sterling might not have been at his razor-sharp best this season but the former Liverpool player has been one of their most prolific goalscorers against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League. The English wideman scored one goal the last time these two teams met, taking his total tally to four against the Cherries in their last five games. With Pep reportedly more interested in finishing second, he will hope Sterling will be able to find his scoring boots for the third match running against Bournemouth.

Player: Mohamed Salah

Team: Liverpool

Match: Arsenal vs Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has always shown the knack of scoring goals against Arsenal. The Egyptian winger has scored five goals in as many appearances against the North London club, including three in the last two for Liverpool. He will look to continue this form against Arsenal, who haven’t lost a game at home against Liverpool in their last five fixtures.

Player: Jamie Vardy

Team: Leicester City

Match: Leicester City vs Sheffield United

Although Arsenal vs Liverpool could prove to be the blockbuster fixture for the next matchweek, the game between Leicester and Sheffield will prove to be a crunch tied for both teams. Jamie Vardy was back to his goalscoring best and added another goal against Arsenal to get an important equaliser and lead the goalscoring charts. He will need to be at his firing best against Sheffield, or risk losing the third spot to Chelsea.

Player: Mason Greenwood

Team: Manchester United

Match: Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

Mason Greenwood has been creating ripples in recent times with his strong performances for Manchester United. The front three of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Greenwood have scored the bulk of United’s goals since the restart, with the addition of Bruno Fernandes giving the team a cutting edge in their attack. The England youth international has now scored four goals in three appearances, making him among the top-scoring teenagers in Premier League history.

Player: Danny Ings

Team: Southampton

Match: Southampton vs Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton will be wary of the in-form Southampton in a bid to stay above the relegation zone. Danny Ings has one goal in two appearances as a Saints player against Brighton, but his current goalscoring form, which allowed his side to earn an important draw against Everton, will be key against Brighton. He now has 19 goals, and with both Aubameyang and Vardy facing tough fixtures, all eyes will be on Ings to grab a goal or two against the Seagulls.

While the Premier League title has already been won by Liverpool in record time, the battle to finish as the top-flight's leading scorer is set to go down to the wire.

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah could add the Golden Boot to his Premier League winners' medal, but he has work to do to catch Leicester's Jamie Vardy, who sits top of the goal charts with four games left.

Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also in contention to get his hands on the prize after sharing it with Salah and Sadio Mane last season when the trio each scored 22 goals.

Southampton's Danny Ings is the dark horse after an unexpectedly prolific campaign.

Jamie Vardy

With 22 league goals to his credit so far this term, Vardy is in pole position to take the prize, especially after rediscovering his peak form over the last week.

Vardy failed to score in Leicester's first four games after the coronavirus hiatus, but the 33-year-old netted twice against Crystal Palace to pass 100 Premier League goals and struck again at Arsenal.

"He's a legend here for the rest of his time at the club, it's just what he adds to that status over the rest of his career," Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers said after Vardy became the 29th player to join the Premier League 100-goal club.

Winning the Golden Boot would be another landmark moment for Vardy, who has defied the odds throughout his remarkable rise from non-league journeyman to Premier League champion four years ago.

Vardy's next opportunity to increase his grip on the top spot comes against lowly Bournemouth on Sunday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The Arsenal forward has scored three times in his last three appearances to move into second place in the goal race.

Aubameyang has netted 20 times this season, his prolific form increased Arsenal's desire to get the Gabon international to extend a contract that expires at the end of next season.

The 31-year-old is yet to agree a new deal amid reported interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain.

His value to Arsenal comes not just in his goals but in his ability to play wide on the left as well as upfront.

Sunday's north London derby at Tottenham and a home game against Liverpool in their following game give Aubameyang a chance to put pressure on Vardy when the spotlight is brightest.

Mohamed Salah

Having won the Golden Boot in 2018 and finished in joint first place last year, the Liverpool forward needs a late goal spree to make it three successive seasons on top of the leaderboard.

Salah's brace in a 3-1 win at Brighton on Wednesday took him to 19 goals and, with Liverpool chasing a new Premier League points record, the Egyptian is likely to remain in the team even with the title won.

With nine assists this season, compared to four for Vardy, two for Aubameyang and two for Ings, the 28-year-old all round value to Liverpool is arguably higher than any of his Golden Boot rivals.

Next up for Liverpool is Saturday's clash with Burnley followed by games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle to round off a memorable campaign that could finish on a high for Salah on a personal note as well.

Danny Ings

The Southampton striker bagged his 19th goal of the season in Thursday's 1-1 draw at Everton.

After a blistering run during the winter, the goals had dried up a little for Ings, but the 27-year-old has been back in predatory form since the restart.

Ahead of Monday's trip to Manchester United, Ings' four goals in his last five matches have underlined the former Liverpool forward's case for a possible England call-up when international football resumes.

First, Ings will focus on becoming the first Golden Boot winner to play for a club outside the Premier League's 'big six' since Sunderland's Kevin Phillips in 1999-2000.

The fight for the top four is heating up, with a few of the bigger names getting important wins. Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Watford built pressure on third-placed Leicester City, who dished out an important 3-0 win themselves over Crystal Palace in a fight for the third spot. Meanwhile, Arsenal have found their winning form after a disastrous start to Project Restart. Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette scored important goals to beat sixth-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home, moving them into seventh; a spot closer to potential European football.

However, the pick of the bunch from the last gameweek has to be Manchester United, who fought back from 1-0 to beat a lowly Bournemouth side 5-2. Mason Greenwood notched two goals but it was Bruno Fernandes who commanded the show. The same is expected from a buoyant United side, as we look at the five players who might influence your Nostragamus fantasy managers:

Player: Bruno Fernandes

Team:  Manchester United

Match: Aston Villa vs Manchester United

As mentioned above, Bruno Fernandes was the key cog in United’s attacking threat in their win over Bournemouth. In fact, his addition has been a worthy one, with United’s front three recording 55 goals in all competitions this season, four more than champions Liverpool’s attacking trio.

Fernandes has six goals in nine appearances for the Red Devils while getting five assists as well. This includes two assists against Bournemouth and a beautifully struck freekick. Expect the Portuguese midfielder to be involved in a few more attacks against relegation-threatened Aston Villa.

Player: Raheem Sterling

Team: Manchester City

Match: Manchester City vs Newcastle United

Sterling has not been at his prolific best this season, having scored 13 goals in 27 appearances, while getting just one assist. However, the wide-man was at his usual best against champions Liverpool, scoring his side’s second goal as the champions went on to beat them 4-0.

Against a buoyant Newcastle United under Steve Bruce, who will be looking to spoil the mood of City, Sterling will need to be sharp as a razor. He was subpar against an in-form Southampton, who went on to score a solitary goal to beat the former champions of England.

Player: Mohamed Salah

Team: Liverpool

Match: Brighton and Hove Albion vs Liverpool

Mohamed Salah might not have hit the peak of his form but it was enough to lead Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years. He is Liverpool’s leading goalscorer this season (17) while assisting another eight.

Although Salah might not have scored in the 4-0 loss to Manchester City, or the 2-0 win over Aston Villa, the Egyptian has an impeccable record against Brighton, with four goals in five appearances against them, while Liverpool have beaten them on all five occasions, with Salah scoring the winning goal on two occasions.

Player: Jamie Vardy

Team: Leicester City

 Match: Arsenal vs Leicester City

Jamie Vardy has been at his best this season and finds himself on top of the Golden Boot standings after scoring two goals in Leicester City’s 3-0 win over City. While the 33-year-old striker faces stiff competition from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Vardy’s strong form beats the Gabonese striker to the spot.

Vardy has scored six goals and one assist in five previous appearances against the Gunners. Leicester will be looking to do the double over Arsenal and secure third spot but the job at hand will be tough with Arteta’s new-look Arsenal finding important form at the tail end of the Premier League.

Player: Danny Ings

Team: Southampton

Match: Everton vs Southampton

Danny Ings has been the surprise package among the Premier League strikers this season. He is third on the Golden Boot standings, with 18 goals in 33 appearances for the Saints. The 27-year-old striker has scored important goals for the Saints, leading the team like a one-man army.

Southampton find themselves in 13th after a surprise 1-0 win over Manchester City. Ings will need to be at his firing best, scoring three goals in three appearances since Project Restart. Ings has a formidable record against Everton, scoring a goal on his full debut for Southampton, which was against Everton. He also scored the last time the two sides met in November.

We have seen some great action in this season of the Premier League just as any other season. The likes of Sergio Aguero, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, among others, have been at their lethal best as expected. However, there are some players who have stepped up with their performances and exceeded all sorts of expectations this season. That said, let's have a look at three of the best players among them.

Danny Ings

After a terrific opening season of the Premier League in 2014/15, during which he bagged 11 goals along with four assists, his career over the last four seasons was largely marred by injuries. But it seems like he is back to the peak of his fitness once again as Ings was seen in prolific scoring form for Southampton this season.

Read | Three best signings in the January transfer window

Ings has already scored 15 goals this season and has one assist on top of that as well. That's not only his individual best in any Premier League season but the fourth most tally of goals among all players in this season as well. Ings has been exceptional with his finishing and has played like a one-man army for Southampton. He would be eager to carry this form into the upcoming seasons.

Tammy Abraham

Chelsea's 20-year-old academy product has enjoyed a pretty successful season with the senior squad. Abraham has been trusted upon as their first team forward in the absence of other established names in their squad. Although Olivier Giroud and Mitchy Batshuayi were also available, manager Frank Lampard showed immense faith in the youngster.

He didn't disappoint though. Abraham fully repaid Lampard's faith in him as he is their top scorer in the league this season with 13 goals and five assists in 25 appearances. He has pace and his sense of positioning helps him to get into unmanned pockets inside the 18-yard-box on most occasions. He will only grow as a player with the amount of exposure he got in this season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The Everton forward has had an immense growth as a player this season, so much that he has even overshadowed their star player Richarlison with his performances. Calvert-Lewin is the club's top scorer this season with 13 goals and an assist to his name in 27 league appearances for the club.

His goal tally in this season is more than what he had scored in the previous three seasons combined. Calvert-Lewin's career graph has always had an upward growth curve. He scored just one goal in 2016/17 season after playing just 347 minutes, four goals and eight assists in 2017/18 season after 1871 minutes, and finally six goals and five assists in 2018/18 seasons after 1769 minutes on the field. This season, Calvert-Lewin has been even more efficient as his 13 goals have come in just 1904 minutes.

The 2019-20 Premier League campaign remains suspended till next month as the world continues to battle the Coronavirus pandemic.

With no footballing action going on at present, it’s a good time to look back at the season so far.

While Liverpool have run away with the title, the battle for the European qualification spots has been extremely interesting with the likes of Sheffield United and Wolves mixing it up with the traditional powerhouses like Manchester United and Chelsea. The bottom half of the table is also tight, with a number of clubs battling it out to survive relegation.

There have been a number of outstanding performers over the course of the season and here we take a look at the Premier League team of the season so far, excluding the top six sides;

Dean Henderson (Sheffield United) ?GK

The young Englishman has been one of the biggest success stories of the season. On loan at Sheffield United from Manchester United, Henderson has emerged as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the division.

Read | Five contenders for PFA Young Player of the Year award

Having not missed a single league game for the Blades, Henderson has secured 10 clean sheets in total ?second-highest in the competition, helping them to the second-best defensive record. Knocking on the doors of the England national team, the Manchester United academy man gets the nod in our lineup.

Max Aarons (Norwich City) - RB

Another promising young English talent that has taken to the Premier League football like a duck to water, Max Aarons has been one of the few positives in a campaign headed for relegation for Norwich City.

The 20-year-old right-back has featured in 27 league matches for Daniel Farke’s side, contributing with two assists in the process. Full of bristling potential, Aarons has impressed with his all-round game and has, in turn, emerged as a transfer target for some of the biggest clubs in England.

Chris Basham (Sheffield United) - CB

A rock at the back for Sheffield United, Basham has played an integral role in the Blades?surprise push for a top-six finish in their first season back from the Championship.

The 31-year-old Englishman hasn’t missed a single league game for Chris Wilder’s side this season and alongside John Egan and Jack O’Connell, he has been a part of one of the best defensive units in the English top-flight that has conceded just 25 goals so far.

Gary Cahill (Crystal Palace) - CB

Having been allowed to leave Chelsea on a free transfer last summer, Gary Cahill has continued to prove his worth and value at his new club, Crystal Palace. The 34-year-old did miss a few games with injury during the festive period but has been solid and reliable almost every time he has played.

Only five teams have conceded fewer goals than Palace have this season (32), with four of those teams in the top five. And Cahill has played a key role in the Eagles?defensive resolve this term, with Roy Hodgson’s side keeping six clean sheets in the 20 matches he has started, including the last three in a row.

Lucas Digne (Everton) - LB

Everton have had a mixed bag of a season this time out, but one Toffees?star who can be proud of his performances is Lucas Digne. The Frenchman has overtaken seasoned veteran Leighton Baines as the first-choice left-back at Goodison Park and has been one of Everton’s top performers this season.

So far in 2019-20, Digne has featured in 26 Premier League matches, coming up with a return of five assists. The 26-year-old’s pace coupled with his precise delivery into the box make him a huge asset. Digne has created 58 goalscoring chances this term ?seventh-best tally in the division.

Read | Five players who could move to the Premier League this summer

Richarlison (Everton) - RW

Another Everton player that has hugely impressed this season, albeit playing as a centre-forward in most matches, Richarlison has continued to impress on English shores.

The 22-year-old, in his second season with the Toffees, has found the back of the net on 10 occasions and has also set up three more in 27 league outings, playing a crucial role in their revival under new boss Carlo Ancelotti in the second half of the season.

James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) - CM

From facing the prospect of relegation, Southampton now find themselves seven points above the drop zone and James Ward-Prowse has had a big hand in the Saints?revival. A mainstay in the middle of the park for Southampton, the 25-year-old hasn’t missed a single league game for Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side, contributing with four goals and three assists.

But his value goes far beyond the goal-involvement. His versatility has helped Hassenhuttl use him at right-back on various occasions when the squad had been hit with injuries. In addition, the 25-year-old has displayed the requisite bite in midfield, chipping in with 72 tackles ?fourth-best among midfielders in the league.

John Fleck (Sheffield United) - CM

Another Sheffield United player in the team, 28-year-old John Fleck has been another top performer for Chris Wilder’s high-fliers this season. The Scotsman, in his first-ever Premier League campaign, has come up with a return of five goals and two assists in 25 matches ?which is rather impressive for a midfielder.

On the back of these performances, Fleck broke into the Scotland national team while he has also been linked with a summer switch to Arsenal as well, highlighting the kind of impact he has made this season for Sheffield United.

Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) - LW

Aston Villa might be headed for relegation, but captain Jack Grealish’s reputation has continued to soar after a season on his return to the Premier League. The 24-year-old has, hands down, been Villa’s best player this season, scoring seven goals and setting up six more in 26 league outings.

Grealish has created 69 goal-scoring chances this term ?the fifth-best tally in the league. A big move to Manchester United has been mooted this summer and based on his performances so far, it would be completely deserved.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) - ST

A no-brainer this one. The last season’s joint Golden Boot winner has continued on his merry ways this time out too, bailing Arsenal out of trouble on a number of occasions. Aubameyang, appointed the Gunners?captain this season, has scored 17 goals in 26 league matches and is behind only Jamie Vardy in the goalscoring charts.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a transfer away from Arsenal this summer and he will be hoping to end his stint with the club on a high.

Danny Ings (ST)

After a torrid spell at Liverpool, the Englishman has enjoyed a resurgence in the past couple of seasons with Southampton. Having moved to the St. Mary’s on a permanent transfer last summer, Ings has justified why the Saints?took a punt on him with a bagful of goals.

Ings, so far this term, has found the back of the net on 15 occasions in 29 matches and has one assist to his name as well. The 27-year-old has been the chief source of goals for Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side, helping them pull away from the relegation battle.

It is the valentine's week but if you have nothing to do with that, football has got you covered. For the first time in the history of the Premier League, the players are going to get a winter break. Champions League, on the other hand, is just on the horizon and the Indian Super League is hot and running too.

But with other leagues still active and running, we can't help you in building your fantasy team in Nostragamus. Here are some of the players who might steal the spotlight this week.

Player: Manuel Onwu

Team: Odisha FC

Match: Odisha FC vs NorthEast United

The Spanish forward signed for Bengaluru FC in the start of the ISL season but his sorry run of form for the blues made him switch shirts midway into the season as he joined Odisha FC on loan in the winter transfer window. Odisha, struggling to find the net in absence of Aridane Santana, were looking for a boost in their frontline and Onwu has given them just that.

The 32-year-old is on track to overturn his season already, having scored three goals in his last two appearances. Both his brace against Goa and his consolation against ATK ended in losses but Joseph Gambau would take "goal scoring" off his list of problems.

In their next encounter against NorthEast United, who are currently nine points above the bottom, Odisha would certainly start as favourites. But the catch is, although NEUFC are third from the bottom, only ATK and BFC have conceded fewer goals than them. They have shown resilience in the back. So, if Odisha are to break them down, Onwu is definitely their best bet.

Player: Sunil Chhetri

Team: Bengaluru FC

Match: Kerala Blasters vs Bengaluru FC

If there is one player in India who makes football look easy, it is the captain fantastic, Sunil Chhetri. The Bengaluru FC skipper is technically brilliant but what makes him so difficult to defend is his positional awareness and ability to read the opponents.

Chhetri has scored nine goals in this instalment of the Indian Super League. Bengaluru are four points off the top and as they prepare to face eighth-placed Kerala Blasters, who have not won in their last four matches, Chhetri will surely be one of the key players in Carles Cuadrat's plans. Bengaluru have not lost a single game in ISL this year when Sunil has scored.

The 35-year-old has shown no signs of ageing and has four goals and an assist against KBFC and he would love to add to his tally in the next match.

Player: Hugo Boumous

Team: FC Goa

Match: FC Goa vs Mumbai City FC

The Moroccan youngster has been the backbone of FC Goa‘s success story this season. His creativity in the centre of the park has been hugely influential in most of the fixtures and his tally of eight goals and six assists speaks volumes about his ability.

The 24-year-old was directly involved in six of the eleven goals scored by Goa in the last three outings so if the Mumbai defenders find him difficult to defend, no eyebrows would be raised. Keeping him the team is a must for anyone playing.

Player: Ciro Immobile

Team: Lazio

Match: Lazio vs Inter

The one player who has finally risen up above the rest in this season is the Lazio frontman Ciro Immobile. The Italian international has made scoring look ridiculously easy as he has scored an immaculate 25 goals in just 22 games. His pace and precision has been the key to his success.

Serie A is jammed at the top with only a point separating the top three. As Lazio get ready to host Conte's Inter, this can be a very crucial fixture in the scheme of things and Simone Inzaghi would love to see his captain stepping up to the occasion.

Inter are also in a great run of form under Conte. They won't give up a single shred of grass without a fight and if Lazio want to get out winners in the match, Immobile has to bring his usual best to the table.

Player: Danny Ings

Team: Southampton FC

Match: Southampton vs Burnley

Finally, Danny Ings is firing. The English international has been in the fray for a long time and given his talent, it was just a matter of time when he finds his scoring boots. Since his move to Southampton, he has looked more dangerous in front of goal. This has resulted in him scoring 14 goals in 25 league games.

Ralph Husenhuttle's men faced a four-goal drubbing at the hands of Liverpool and their scoring has been off the mark. But surprisingly, Burnley are above them in the table, scoring three goals fewer.

One does not have to be a genius to guess that it is going to be a defensive affair. Therefore, Ings' game would be very crucial if Southampton want to squeeze out a point from the match against Sean Dyche's men.
