After a shocking 13-10 loss at home to Northeastern on Monday, many expected the defending national champions and No. 2-ranked LSU Tigers to bounce back against another unranked opponent. However, the Louisiana Ragin' Cagins had other plans.
Louisiana packed the stadium with its third-largest crowd in program history, and gave them plenty to cheer about in a convincing 7-2 upset over the Tigers.
This marked the Tigers' first time losing back-to-back games against unranked opponents since 2023, when they lost to Louisiana and Nicholls State.

It didn't take long for the Ragin' Cajuns to energize their crowd. LSU right-hand pitcher Gavin Guidry got the start for the Tigers, entering the night with a 3-0 record and without an earned run all season. But Louisiana jumped on him early, scoring three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a Lee Amedee RBI double to take an early 3-0 lead.

Louisiana starter Cody Brasch kept the Tigers' lineup quiet early. He tossed three scoreless innings while striking out five batters, helping the Ragin' Cajuns maintain control through the opening frames.
The Tigers responded in the top of the fifth inning when Trent Caraway launched a two-run homer, cutting the Louisiana lead to 3-2. Any momentum LSU had didn't last long as the Ragin Cajuns answered in the bottom half of the inning, plating three runs on a pair of RBI singles to extend their lead and regain control of the game.
